June 29th, 2009: Germany world leader in per capita B2C e-commerce sales
Last year, German business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce sales amounted to € 75 billion, representing a market share of 31 percent in Western Europe. On a global scale, this amount stands for roughly 10 percent of all B2C online sales. This makes Germany the world leader in per-capita B2C turnover with € 913, thus higher than in the United States (€ 906), UK (€ 737) and Japan (€ 681). According to estimates by TNS Infratest, German online sales will reach € 145 billion in 2010.
