Nov 28, 2009: European retailers favour Germany for expansion
A recent study by property consultancy CBRE comes to the conclusion that Germany is the favoured consumer market among European retailers in terms of expansion. 220 retailers were asked about their expansion plans for next year. Almost half of them (47 percent) named Germany their top priority, followed by France (44 percent) and Spain (36 percent). Over the last 12 months, 20 international retailers have established operations in the country. Although this development might further spur competition, it also offers more options for suppliers.
