May 19th, 2009: Online advertising expenses up 11.2 percent in first quarter
While the economy is still looking for the bottom of the current crisis, expenses for advertising on the internet have jumped 11.2 percent in the first three months of this year, amounting to € 340 million. Retailers and mail-order companies had a share of € 42 million (source: BITKOM). In 2008, total advertising expenses had increased strongly by 29 percent to € 1.3 billion, of which retailers had spent € 230 million (plus 20 percent year-on-year).
