Jan 28, 2009: German consumers fancy foreign products
A recent representative survey by market researcher GfK revealed that only every third German consumer prefers domestic products. Hence, the majority of the German shopping population is very open towards foreign goods. Not surprisingly, results varied among age groups - young people between 20 and 29 particularly favour non-domestic products, with only 25 percent of them opting for items made in Germany. Even the elderly (60+) are very interested - 50 to 60 percent are happy to buy foreign products. Considering income levels, higher income households tend to shop for international products.
